When was the last time you read a book
that could actually change your life? Maybe, one comes along
once or twice in lifetime. Robert Winer's Ten Commandments for
Success is such a book.
In this so-called information age filled
with success' formulas that have little or no impact, Winer's
Ten Commandments makes a reader take a hard look at his or her
life in God's mirror. Wielding Moses' life and words like a two-edged
sword, the Philadelphia neurologist pries into a reader's soul
as to our pre-conceived ideas of success. Success doesn't mean
having a fat bank account and a flashy car to carry one ever
upward into a position of influence. Success only comes through
following God-given principles and our dependence on Him.
Winer's Ten Commandments for Success include:
1. Unlocking Your Compassionate Side: Empathy. 2. Increasing
Your Ability to Understand Difficult Situations and People: Realism.
3. Freedom Through Letting Go: Abandonment. 4. Authority Through
Servanthood: Humility. 5. Learning Through Following: Obedience.
6. Get a Vision for Your Life. 7. The Power and Joy of Working
Together with Others: Combining. 8. Cultivating a Faithful Spirit.
9. Learning How, When, and What to Speak. 10. Overcoming Through
Diligence: Hard Work.
If Winer had an 11th commandment, it would
be for each reader to find his or hers "burning bush experience."
The jacket cover succinctly states Ten Commandments uncovers
the false, unrealistic and non-Biblical notions of success; presents
and explores 10 divine principles for prosperity; gives you the
tools to become more effective by promoting spiritual growth;
and holds the key to a happier and more content life.
In Ten Commandments' foreword, David Chernoff,
executive director of Kesher Ministries International, wrote:
"The goal of this book is not so much to give you wealth,
power and fame but to ...foster spiritual growth by developing
character,' to help you have your own burning bush experience'
with the Lord and thereby to make you successful in the Kingdom
of God." Rob Stearns, director of Eagles' Wings Ministries,
also noted another significant aspect of Winer's book: "[It
brings] forth truths that will, once internalized and lived out,
produce amazing inner freedom. Moses is still crying out, Let
my people go!'"
When I first skimmed through Ten Commandments
I thought, "that's a good read." The second time, I
thought: "That's a great read." Then I realized, not
only was every word in Winer's book thought provoking, but also
it could be applied to my every-day-life. It's definitely one
to savor on a daily basis.
