Message from Dr. Robert I. Winer, President
Jungian depth psychology has a strong foundation in empirical work as Jung's early research was in defining and verifying the Freudian concept that in neurosis, unconscious factor determine conscious behavior.
Jung was the first to show that these unconscious factors, which he called feeling-toned complexes, when activated (Jung calls this "a constellated complex") can produce an interruption of conscious thinking, a failure of memory, and bodily innervation, such as sweating and changes in respiration and pulse.
Unfortunately, the word hasn't gotten out that the roots of modern psychiatry has a firm scientific and empirical foundation. The general public has a false perception that psychiatry is a subjective discipline. My hope is that by writing in this area that the science of psyche will be furthered to good benefit.
